Let me know if you are willing to sell at the above appraisal band range. I have funds ready :)

On a serious note I am sure you will easily find buyers in the mid to high xxxx range if not more than that. Well developed city with great potential.

If you ARE really serious, I have 上海市.com -- a common name for Shanghai -- for 55K. PM me if you are interested.

I meant 5.5K, seriously. Or I can put up a sale and see how it goes.

What's the value of ShanghaiCity.com as compared to Shanghai.com?

In my opinion, shanghai.com is worth 50x to 100x of shanghaicity.com.

Agree, Harbin is Tier 3 - 4 city in China, Shanghai is Tier 1.

Again, let me quote someone and give the shorter version of the reply:
..... I arrogantly disagree.....

Joking aside, I do respectfully disagree with you. According to your numbers, 上海市 is only 1/10 ~ 1/13 of the value of 哈尔滨, even though Google and baidu return comparable counts. Giving a choice, with the same price tag, I'd rather choose the former.

To most of the world, Beijing and Shanghai are probably the only two cities known outside China -- a factor you have to consider if you are selling the name outside the country.

Interesting discussion indeed. Based on my "research", I'd revise my (educated) guess to $500~5,000. but again, what do I know... this is a thin, volatile niche market. Luck, timing, and marketing skill are all wildcards.

Valuation is subjective, varies from person to person, depending on how you see it, but if 上海市 is better than 哈尔滨, why don't you ask Zenmarketing if he is willing to swap his name with yours?

This is the real test.

Thanks for the suggestion. Grass is greener in neighbor's lawn and names are better in my own account :)
I have no intention to find out which one is better; besides, I've sold the domain at a price I am happy with. that's all I care.

There will be no universal agreement on which belong to Tier 2+ city in China but Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou will definitely be Tier 1.

Most will consider Shenzhen Tier 1 or 2, Chongqing Tier 2, Chengdu 2 or 3, Harbin 3 or 4.
