Hi,

It's very early, especially as IE6 usage in China is currently running around 60%, but has anyone started to develop their idn.cn yet??

I'd be very interested to hear what you're up to!

Probably about the same number as Hindi devs .....

And if it really still is 60% now, you can bet your last renewal dollar IE6 will still be around in 5 to 10 years ........ not a nice thought.

This one appears to mean 'funny' or 'humourous', and seems to be put together quite well. Is it one of yours Wot?.. and, if it is, do you understand Chinese yourself, or did you outsource development?

It is mine, although I speak a lot of Cantonese I can neither read nor write SC or TC so was outsourced.

Taking it down for a few days to clean out the porn!

You are a genuine 'pioneer', in having put up a Chinese .cn site so early in the game. If you can not speak SC or TC 'though, how are you able to check what content is being put on the site?

For those who don't speak Chinese, or employ a Chinese speaker, 'automated' content could perhaps be a consideration for small-scale development. But even then there would be no real way for you to indemnify yourself against liability.. e.g. getting sued, the PRC deleting your site for unsuitable content, etc..

May I ask how you acquired your outsourcing contact? (family friend, firm in China?).

Cheers,

One of the Chinese guys who was/is? on here and DNF set it up for me.

My wife is HK Chinese so trying to get her interested in helping out! Being Chinese I am sure that when the $'s start to appear it will whet her appetite. (-:

Great to hear that :-) The site looks quite user-friendly too, and being one of the first might give you a 'first mover' advantage in page rankings too?
