For those of you who want to know what's going on with .日本, Japan Internet Domain Name Council is currently accepting applications from companies and organisations that would like to become a .日本 registry. Application period will close on 18 August.

To clarify, Regardless of the chosen managing partner for .日本 , Only the registrant of i.e: 日本.jp will get exclusive rights to 日本.日本 (Like any other extension).
