"VeriSign is now free to squarely focus on its role in managing the .COM and .NET registries. "

VeriSign had a Second Quarter earnings call last week and when asked about areas for future growth,
IDNs were mentioned.
In particular, Mark McLaughlin, VeriSign’s President, referred to
“growth opportunities [such as] both the new gTLDs themselves plus
the internationalized version of the TLDs we run today.

Perhaps Verisign will now have the time to (have an intern) draft a policy with respect to homographic domains and send it to Mozilla ...

Mozilla decided that the problem could be solved by having a white list of characters. But I don't see how this solves the problem at all.

can't believe all the tlds that are whitelisted, yet no .com and .net
what is so difficult ?
