This really pisses me off! As far as I know the term is on a huge number of products in Chinese herb stores. 催情

Just got the letter from dynadot and it will be deleted August 16th. As far as I know this is not a pornographic name, and is more in line with aphrodisiac.

No. I don't dare put anything adult up for .cn's, that's just asking for trouble.

It looks like everyone is losing their .cn's. I was going to renew my single one .cn but I'll just let it drop. I'd rather not pay for the renewal only to have it cancelled or taken on a whim.

If anyone wants it, or wants to put up with all this crap, I'll push it to you. Just pm me.

They must have given a reason, what is the domain anyway?

催情.cn

Same reason as Blasts

All these products are manufactured and sold in China and throughout the world. All use 催情 in the description:
http://news.zhue.com.cn/zt/show.php?itemid=824
http://www.superkanpo.cn/product/Flowers-Sochi.html
http://www.gzmaiyao.cn/list.asp?ProdId=1939
http://www.3156.cn/product/200711/89916.shtml
http://www.ar114.com.cn/ar/html/4151.htm

I would like to get the name back, if possible...

There's no mystery here. This appears to be a name of an aphrodisiac, so it's a sex-based term on it's own.

It's not a name of an aphrodisiac, it means 'of aphrodisiac quality' or 'producing an aphrodisiac affect'

I have studied Chinese medicine for a long time, and have even owned a Chinese Herbal Elixir Bar. One of the biggest selling items, before the dawn of Viagra, were aphrodisiac concoctions.

All of my products were imported from mainland China.

Seems like there is a double standard here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/6213835.stm

Ok, I stand corrected :-)

You're obviously an intelligent guy 'though, and must surely appreciate there's a very thin line here. The distinction you're making (between the terms) is tenuous at best and the fact remains this is still a sex-related term.

Describing sex, even in an abstract way, is still sex-related and I think everyone here knows that ''.cn'' and ''sex'' are a cocktail* that will produce anything but an aphrodisiac-like effect...

Sorry to hear about the domain 'though, and I wish you well with any others you may have.

:-)

* I wonder if ''cocktail'' will get past the cnnic censor?!

Yeah, it seems odd though that this name is retracted with the thousands of 'porn' related names the exist in ascii.cn

'aphrodisiacs' have been part of the Chinese medicinal system for at least 4,000 years, perhaps even stemming from the Red Emperor http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shennong

Unfortunately the 600 guys who are doing the monitoring do not read English. :)

Didn't CNNIC offer some kind of incentive for people reporting sites that did not comply with the bucket load of restrictions?

There was such a rumor going around. But spreading rumors is illegal in China.

You are duly appointed to head up the R & R committee for the IDNF Convention.

It was an interesting time....

Yes, as far as the IDNF Convention goes, perhaps Verisign can be our number one sponsor, as any promotion will be money in the bank for them....

I'll have to get FKA to bring over his harem  LOL
