So who is your competition, Bonanzle.com?

So who is your competition, Bonanzle.com?

You could say any ecommerce site would be our competition. It is a tough market to compete in, but it is a matter of providing something unique which we believe we have and are constantly improving on. Without stating the obvious, it all comes down to the users. At the moment, bonanzle, ebid and many other auction style marketplaces follow the ebay model. We have moved away from doing this only and included more social networking features to our marketplace website and rich media. So just check it out for yourself and give us your opinions and feedback.

I've been in this market for the last 15 years, I think I've seen it all from ebay to facebook marketplace, to reverse auctions. I have an auction site I am running as a hobby myself, it has almost a 1000 registered users. What can i tell you about this online auction thing? unless you have lots of money to spend on advertising and SEO, stay away or you will get burned. The competition is just to much. Its been done, re-done, un-done and overdone.

I do agree with you to a certain extent, you do have a valid point, before getting into this we were aware of the challenges, especially given how saturated the internet is with these marketplaces. It did start as a hobby to begin with, and it still is a large part. Just out of curiosity, what is your website?

Build out an affiliate program like the one eBay USED to have (with the ability for affiliates to link to single auctions, categories, or search results pages) and watch your traffic build.

Run it through CJ to capture all eBay's disgruntles ex-affiliates.

Thanks for the suggestion drewbert. We will be pursuing these tactics. Although promotion is a big part of getting people on the website. Another point we want to make at this stage is we want people's suggestions and feedback on the actual user experience to tell us what they like or do not like. Even if it 1 person's opinion (be it good or bad) it counts a lot, as we are about doing what people want or fixing what people do not like.

Maybe add "domain names" or developed websites in your catagories.

Yes we were thinking of it, and we might still go ahead with doing that in the near future. The only thing holding us back is we want to do it right, rather than just having a basic auction or buy now category for domains and websites, we want to add more functionality to those type of listings (domains and websites), kind of like flippa.com does with statistics and revenue data.

Hey all,

We've just done some more updates and thanks to online communities such as this one we are steadily growing. So a big thank you to all! Now, rather than just tell you about our new updates we at Buzzmart would prefer to tell you about 2 new Apple iPod touches 32GB 4th Gen we are going to be giving away for this Christmas holiday season.

Here are the competition rules and guidelines:

1) Post up to 10 "real" listings on Buzzmart.com, free of charge and at no cost to you whatsoever.
2) An undercover Buzzmart team member will purchase 1 of your listings, which is why this has to be an actual item you must have for sale.
3) Once you have received payment and you have shipped out your listing to the undercover buyer, we will verify that it is as described and send you your free iPod touch in return!
4) MAKE SURE THAT IN THE PRODUCT DESCRIPTION YOU MENTION THE FOLLOWING "32GB4GEN" in big bold letters so we can identify those users who are taking part in the competition.
5) All listings must follow Buzzmart guidelines as stated in the terms and conditions.
6) Competition closes December 5th 2010, so hurry up and start selling!

Thanks and good luck!

Buzzmart has received many suggestions and feedback over the last couple of months. A number of them have been taken into consideration, discussed and implemented over the development period. Among them were the concerns and doubts about seller fees (Buzzmart credits).

It’s in our interest to make Buzzmart a social marketplace that will satisfy the needs and requirement of buyers and sellers alike, so we have taken a complete change of direction in order to achieve that:

1) Selling is free: No fees, no credits. Just sign-up and start selling.
2) No banner advertising: All advertising banners have been removed from the site.

We are now proud to say: Buzzmart - Your (free) social marketplace

Hi all,

Over the last couple of weeks our tech bods have been working extra hard on improving our service and we're pleased to tell you about several fantastic new features we have implemented on our social marketplace platform:

The Buzzmart Network

Besides improving the overall layout of the Network, we have included a neat feature which allows you to filter Buzzes by friends who are also connected with you on Facebook. You can now see which Facebook friends of yours are also using Buzzmart, making it easier for you to interact with people you already trust.

Furthermore, we have also added a function which allows you to connect your Twitter account with the Buzzmart Network allowing you to automatically tweet your Buzzmart activity to your followers.

A better look for your listings

Visitors can now view all listings either in list or gallery mode, making it clearer for buyers to find what they are looking for. Additionally, we have tweaked the way your individual listings look by re-arranging various attributes on the page and adding a zoom function to all listing images.

A smarter sell template

New features to the sell template include an automated image suggestion tool which fetches images based on the title of your listing. No more worrying about finding the right image for your products.

Furthermore, we have included the ability to add UPC, MPN, Brand and ISBN fields to your products so that your listings can get indexed by Google Product Search.

Personalized profile pages

We have improved the way profile pages display by bringing your listings to the top of the page and giving them maximum visibility which they deserve. You can also link your Facebook fan pages directly into your Buzzmart profile page and interact with other member using our Live Video Chat tool.

These are just the first of many fantastic improvements we have coming to the site, so make sure to check us out at www.buzzmart.com.

Best wishes,
George & Tony
