***MODERATOR NOTE****

I have previously advised this member by pm that in nearly every language in ccTLDs the geo domains
and many keywords are reserved by the registry or government. In addition, there are restrictions as
noted by other members above that may apply.

If he was indeed able to register this domain, (or city/ geo names in this ccTLD) it is highly probable that
the government or registry may claim them back at some point.

On that note, we can not allow this domain (or any similar ccTLDs) to be sold on this forum.

Thanks for your understanding. As always...caveat emptor.

I was in the rare position to register this name. I have had domainer success registering the .po Russian IDN.IDNs in, Nov 2010 even though I am not a russian citizen. The names are in my account and live. Expire 2011.
For example, I reg'd the word Стивен.op ("steven" in Russian) and 8 more names. The names were in my account as "status" is "new", then when my card was charged it went to "live". I checked the whois and my order details were there, the name, the date.

You can check the whois. or I can give you a snapshot of my account for new Russian names.

The new Saudi Arabia Name is in the land rush. Its first come first served.

I just did the same, I checked to see if it was free, it was, then I went to check out, ordered it, and completed it. The name was in my account, the status is "new" Im just waiting for my card to be charged and it should go live.

I didn't experience any blocks or error messages when ordering, therefore I don't expect any problems I hope.

I can give you a snap shot of my account if you are a genuine interested party.

Here's something I can even offer to you...

I could reg'd a saudi arabia name(s) for you - i don't mind.

I typed in some top names and they were available.

we could work out a deal about how to transfer name to you or something.

The price would be the Reg fee ($199+$199 = $398 ) + my commission (small fee for keeping name in my account).

This may sound strange to you that I do have top saudi names in my account...

but just to re-itterate...

I reg the new .po russian idn.idn. For some reason I have never seen anyone in this forum offer a .po russian idn.idn name for sale or mention if they reg a name.

Nothing changed, I did the same for the new saudi arabia name, and the same process is currently happening - names in account waiting for card payment - expect them to go live with no trouble like .po russian names.

If you have any questions, or concerns, please PM/POST me.

PM/Post if you want a snapshot of my account with russian/saudi arabia names as proof and to talk about news.sa and for me to reg saudi arabia names for you.

thanks.

I assume you meant .рф
If you search the threads you will find some people here have registered .рф domains
Here's one I started (http://www.idnforums.com/forums/27620-first-visit-to-idn-%D1%80%D1%84.html)

Also, you mention in your post that you are in a unique position to register these names.

You are aware I hope, that the sponsor sporting the top banner on this site, 101domain.com offers these services [along with the trustee services needed for these icctlds].

So, what is your unique position exactly.

1. Numerous questions asking how to reg names were observed by oneself.

2. I guess not having to ask where to reg.

Please open the sale of the Saudi Arabia name. This would benefit the forum, since the practice is correct regulatory behaviour. Thank you kindly for reviewing my request and in-line with the new information, please importantly implement the change, at your convenience.

Evidence has arisen that may inhibit the sale and transfer of a Saudi domain.

From the Saudi ccTLD (.sa) document, I was citing "11 - Domain names Transfer."

I may have to concede.

With this simple revision I believe nothing negative has occurred:

Im not oblidge to respond to a post that is contentious!

With regret I must lay the matter to rest. In time, the change may occur when the name sells on the forum. Most benefitial direction for one to pursue. However, its not going to be a matter for me to deal with. Its not that I do not want to reach out to director of nic.net.sa and start a dialogue... unfortunately, Im preoccupied with companies. Maybe someone here has a period of time to put the .sa cctld at the heart of the IDNForum's remit. ;)

Let me just lay it out straight. No one here with half a brain is going to buy this domain due to the inherent risks, and we are not going to be party to someone losing their money.

An email to the director of .sa would have taken 5 minutes. I think you could spare that small amount of time if you felt strongly about this issue, and certainly that would have cleared up any questions about .sa domains. I think even you know what the outcome would have been so you have chosen not to go there.

On a side note...it would probably not be wise to continue to try and sell this (and your other) .sa domains on other forums or auctions sites until you have full understanding of the rules and rights from the .sa registry...and in saying that I might add that the rules today may not be the rules tomorrow. Anyone that buys these names does so with the understanding they may lose them in the future, that is why most stick with .com.

Unfortunately, its a path Im not willling to travel. However, maybe an email to the director of .sa to see if one would consider changing the rules on the sale of the .sa domain... then the hard work may pay off.

I do agree with you on this. You did need to cast your impartial eye over the issue of a buyer potentially losing their .sa domain... so far its ok.

As always, our chats are 'Food for Thought.'
