Hi all,

How are .tv names fairing these days? I grabbed a couple, any thoughts would be appreciated.

فندق.tv - Hotel

بيروت.tv - Beirut

東京都.tv - Tokyo-to

Cancún.tv - Cancún

ok here is my opinion for what its worth
1. great keywords (IMO)
2. .tv is strongest IDN wise in those languages (strongest in a relative sense, considering only the .tv extension, Arabic & Japanese)
3. we are talking about .tvs, not much happening resell wise currently. which is an overstatement.
(got bored yesterday and registered a Russian Geo .TV, thought about flipping it to give me something to do while in a long meeting yesterday, then thought whats the use)
4. prime for development IMO (at least thats what I keep telling myself :) )

Dropped most of mine.

But they were not any good anyway, only countries in native language-zero interest at giveaway prices.

Here's Bill Mushkin from Name.com on the .TV extension. Lots of orange at Name.com. Bill used to own Mushkin Inc. which produces high end computer products. He also collects vintage bicycles!

They have had promo pricing of $10.99 for .TV's in the past so keep an eye out for it as it may be repeated. I agree that the resale market is currently dead

Because Tuvalu gave the rights away (well for cash) to VeriSign. But is it now a ccTLD or a gTLD - good question.

The problem with .TVs is the renewal prices, not the registration prices. Pricing regges at $11 and renewals at $30 isn't really much of a temptation unless you are building sites out. And most of us here would build our .coms before our .TVs.

As far as I know they only got (temporary) usage rights (not ownership) and it's still a ccTLD. I wouldn't hope for .tv as an IDN tld.

Dropped all but a few .. managed to make a $4k ish sale last year for a 3 letter ASCII, agree that unless your building a site on them it's fairly pointless ... Though I will hang onto ТВ.tv ... ;)
