Icann just posted their 2006-2007 Budget. I went ahead and copied the parts about IDNs

They mention a "timeline" for testing, was there any more information provided on this with this report.

All of the elements are in place with IDN domains registered, many in hands of end users. Heck for that matter, the sites are there for probably 50% of the domains, just currently addressed with ascii urls. With IE7 closer to coming to mainstream use, things may happen (by sheer market forces) faster than ICANN can try to plan it.

No I didn't see an exact timeline in this report. It's been layed out in other reports though.

I expect to see all hell break lose in July.

In April, ICANN will release a project description for the technical test. For the month of April, the test plan will be open for public consultation.

In May, the committee will amend the plan in response to relevant replies from the public and submit the project to the ICANN board for approval.

The board is expected to give its approval for the project no later than the ICANN meeting in Marrakesh in late June.

The IDN implementation test is expected to launch in July 2006.
