Haha, can't believe they're using the .ДЕТИ as an example for internationalized TLDs.

Otherwise all valid points. It was discussed that ICANN work with the Mozilla Foundation or something like that to keep up to date a TLD "master list", should be useful.

I know. But there's so many other examples, why use this one. In my opinion it's one of the worse TLD one could apply for.

I didn't read the article, but I think .ДЕТИ is the only idn gtld planned to be applied for that has been officially announced.
I could be wrong but i haven't heard of any others. So I assume the article wanted to go with something solid.

shoes.ebay will get traffic that could have gone to Zappos ....via Google
natural results or via ads on the right side.

Ebay will be in better control of its vertical category stores.
