DynaDot: VariantExists

So what does it mean when Im on dynadot or any other registrar and it comes back with an error of " Variant Exists".

Does this simply mean a domain has alreay been registered?

It means that the Traditional variant has already been registered in the case of Simplified Chinese, or vise-versa

for personal example, you can't go register the simplified 贷.com because you've taken the traditional, 貸.com, i think.

Or, if in some cases there is another word that means the same thing, and you may not be able to register that version of the word. I have seen some where ONLY the traditonal Chinese .net would be registered...and the other 3 (2 .coms and 1 .net) would not register.

I ran into that a few times...i ended up getting about 10 out of 15 domains because of that.
