In a rather interesting ruling, (http://en.ria.ru/russia/20120411/172756870.html) Microsoft sued the owner of Windows.ru, who used the domain name to sell plastic windows, in 2010 and was given partial administrative privileges over the domain by the Moscow Arbitration Court today.
The domain was originally registered by Dmitry Shapovalov in 1998 to sell plastic windows online – a business that is as far a stretch as any from Microsoft’s. The business was running peacefully without any intervention from Microsoft until 2010, after Dmitry started redirecting the domain to a aviation industry website and forum, which prompted MS to launch its lawsuit against the owner.

Earlier today, the Moscow Arbitration Court ruled that Dmitry could retain ownership of the domain, but made Microsoft the second administrator of the domain in relation to software and computer products. Meaning, Dmitry can use the domain for any purpose besides advertising and selling software and computer products.
Consequently, the domain now has two administrators, though the court did not specify how administrative rights to the name were to be split.
Windows.ru currently redirects to a Wikipedia page about windows (in Russian, of course).

so basically they got nothing. interesting that they didn't even offer to buy the name from the registrant in the first place.
