New Facebook advertising system will try to spoil the image of Google and Yandex classical ads targeting.

In old mechanisms, it is not assumed on default the usage of users’ extremely accurate data. On the contrary, Facebook new advertising has not such incompleteness and being like that it comes out of the social network into the web. Moreover, the most important is that Facebook profile data and Like graph will be enriched now by third-party sites information, including those used by Google and Yandex today; or even entirely different, more suitable in the context of one or another site.

So, for the old targeting approach if one uses a TV serial title for search query it can become the very reason to show this person a DVD sale ad. However, the advertising system reaction, knowing that a user regularly Like-clicks series previews in the social network will be quite different. In fact, a person already possesses the very video, it is very possible, and an advertising system will be able to avoid useless action.

According to Businessinsider.com, it was roughly sketched a scheme that shows how exactly on the market where Google earns $2.5bln. per quarter Facebook will try to show the result of $10bln.

Currently Facebook Ad Exchange, being an interim solution in a way, is testing. This sceme combines Facebook data and third-party data to display ads inside the social network.

If to believe in Businessinsider (http://www.businessinsider.com/a-plugged-in-ad-tech-source-drew-this-diagram-to-explain-facebooks-next-10-billion-business-2012-7) optimistic estimations that enriched social networks data are able to bring revenue 4 times as much time than Google and Yandex probabilistic ones, consequently these two companies get into complicated image situation. Moreover, Mail.Ru Group quite unexpectedly receives head start. This is the very Group that is potentially able to launch something alike on the Russian market because the structure joins both the context advertising system and all social networks that are valuable in the country.

Facebook is selling their cookie (which is undoubtedly vast). Better (meaning more accurate -- not necessarily "better"*) targeting means better conversions means more valuable traffic.

Whether FB is a reliable provider of better targeting (than, say, Google) is up for debate. Also, whether FB has a better plan for long-term partnerships (than, say, business.com did 5 yrs ago), is going to depend on the relationships they can make in the boardrooms.

* Whether surfers catch on and there's an anti-targeting/anti-cookie reaction is also up for debate.

Trouble is with Cookies, they rather sound like something, that you would really like to try.

Being a bit of a fitness fanatic these days, I tend to stay clear.
