Yes and this site will have to close because they now own the rectangle.

Personally I will go back to using a brick rather than buy Apple!

This site should be OK as the rectangles used are all sharp edged ones - and not the soft rounded ones which Apple invented !! ;)

If all these rules had been applied to cars, Detroit would never existed. And those that could afford it would be driving a Beetle for the price of a BMW.

Still who cares, China is buying 15 million Smart Phones a month and Apple's share is vanishing. Much the same story in Europe due to anti- competitive behaviour. Frankly, who wants to copy their dated shit?

Am I not allowed to use that now?

Apple Inc appears to be losing the race in China's smartphone market, after it ranked seventh among the brands on offer in the first half of the year, behind Samsung Electronics Co and domestic mobile phone manufacturers.......

Yep, basically Apple has to cheat to even stay in the game. But will Europe follow China or the US. I would guess Europe will vote with its head and go the Android Route. Nobody want to coralled into Apple's kill zone.

It's a lazy Saturday afternoon so...

7.5% isn't bad, considering China's GDP per capita is approximately tied with Albania. The Chinese are obsessed with Apple products, even when they can't afford them.

The patent system is completely broken, but how's that specificially Apple fault? Yeah, they're evil or whatever, so is everyone else. Everyone is suing each other. The verdict came from a jury, who decided that Samsung willingly copied a design that Apple had patented. Samsung has a history of imitation, by the way (e.g., BlackJack).

Even if it isn't successfully appealed, Apple bought about $8 billion in parts from Samsung last year, so they're really only getting a ~12% discount.

I over reacted as usual.

If I actually need a rectangle with rounded corners and am prepared to pay a king's ransom for it, then I will get an iPhone.

Problem is I cannot see it making a very good doorstop or even a decent coffee mat.

It's a decent bottle opener until the glass cracks.

Blame Samsung for that bit.

Not really quite sure how you can be accused of copy something that you supply all the key parts for anyway. Apple only seem to supply the OS and the Hype.

My mistake, I meant "willfully". But here's an interesting article about why "juries have no place in the patent system" if anyone's interested.
