Mixed language domains

Whats the future of mixed language domains?

There are quite alot of mixed language (native/ASCII) domains commonly used in the Japanese/Chinese language. ie pcゲーム.com (PC Game)

Then there are the domains containing homographs that could potentially be used for phishing. ie pаypal.com (containing russian а)

Is there any expected way these will be handled in the future? is it safe to be registering mixed language domains, or will these potential be forbidden in the future?

Verisign already blocks registration of mixed script domains except when it makes sense, i.e. CJK with Latin.

(Those are ICANN guidelines that every registry implementing IDNs should follow)

All code points in a single label will be taken from the same script as determined by the Unicode Standard Annex #24: Script Names <http://www.unicode.org/reports/tr24>. Exceptions to this guideline are permissible for languages with established orthographies and conventions that require the commingled use of multiple scripts. Even in the case of this exception, visually confusable characters from different scripts will not be allowed to co-exist in a single set of permissible code points unless a corresponding policy and character table is clearly defined.

I'd stay away from them.

Most of them are junk anyway. Japanese might be an exception because Romaji is part of the Japanese writing system. But it only makes sense if it's the prime spelling for a popular term.

Technically I think they're safe (the CJK + latin ones). Whether they're worth it is an interesting question

Japanese good thing , cant speak on to many other languages. I've seen it work well some chinese terms in the past as well.

OK thanks, think this answered my question.

Was specifically asking for CJK+ASCII (and if these may be blocked in the future), but was also wondering how they were differentiated from other languages.
