I don't think this argument is strong enough.
You may have a better chance getting Uzbekistan to apply for .руз which will block .рус, but those guys don't have money to apply for a cirillyc extention.

Hasn't Uzbekistan switch to using Latin script?

in 2001 the Latin script began to be used for coins. Since 2004 some official websites have switched over to using the Latin script when writing in Uzbek.[6] Most street signs are also in the new Latin script. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uzbek_language

http://www.gov.uz/uz/ is in Latin Script.

That's not the point. The point is that the Uzbek version is in Latin.

Yes B, I get it. Probably nationalists at the steering wheel.
There was no official call, it has been put off for almost a decade. From what it looks like in the cities, Cyrillic is preferred over Latin and Russian is preferred over Uzbek. Making that switch officially to Latin will throw them back 50 years. I think a lot will depend on them joining a CIS free trade zone which looks like they will do so by the end of the year.

Russian is preferred over Uzbek

That's unfortunate.

It's freedom of choice.

Not really. These areas were conquered by the Russian Empire, no choice in that.
