Hi, I was wondering if someone could help with an übern00b question. I'm curious why Google Trends and Baidu Index often give contradictory results.
For instance, 灰 vs 灰色
Basically, the first is the adjective "gray" and the second more like "gray color".
Google Trends rates 灰 higher, while Baidu Index rates 灰色 higher.
Since 灰 is combined with nouns, does this difference imply Trends is not doing "exact match" correctly with hanzi while Baidu is? In another example, 中 and 中国 nearly tie in Trends which seems obviously wrong (中国 murders 中 in Baidu Index).
Or is this difference somehow a product of Google's small market share in China (tho 15% of 500 million is still a lot...)? Or something else?
TIA
