Word on the street is that Gammascalper's coolness rating has gone way up today.

Anyone know why?

Can only be a big sale or an even bigger buy!

That's why I'm asking! Word on the street says it's so, but I think it's probably stretching things a little.

Anyone heard what it's all about? Huh? Huh?

Wow -- you're quick to spill the beans.

I'm not so much cool as... enlightened.

This is my first one since the SE/20 back in college. Now that's a HUGE hint.

The SE is sometimes referred to as the SE/20, not an official designation. Introduced along with the Mac II in March 1987, the SE came with 1 MB of RAM, one or two double-sided 800K floppies, and space to mount an internal SCSI hard drive (the second drive bay held either a hard drive or second floppy - no room for both, although that didn't stop some people from creating a bracket to mount a hard drive in a two-floppy SE). The SE was the first compact Mac with a built-in fan.

There you go...the rest of the hint! Congrats gamma!!!

Thanks :-)

I picked up the lowest end Macbook which I can honestly say aleady is the best computer I've ever had -- and I've been an early adopter of Sony Vaio laptops for years.

This is an IDNer's dream machine.

He bought a Mac?

Are you saying that's anticlimactic? Heretic!

We use Mac, Unix, Linux, MS here so I am a Unitarian, not a fundamentalist. They all have advantages. If that makes me a heretic, so be it.

Sorry, I was hoping for more big sale news. I am getting spoiled by all the sales posts and antsy for things to start happening. I even bought my first and only .in today!

To tell the truth if it wasn't for me only using a mac at the time of starting this site, IDNing wouldn't be at this level.

I had no clue window users couldn't use IDNs in IE..
RD told me afterwards....

My housemate is thinking of buying a powerbook, according to him Mac's is "da shit", he's a software engineer I might add...ok ok and he has 'problems' with Microsoft.

After he checks it out ask him if it has "da droit".

I'll surely ask, I am getting tired of the BSOD's that my 'conventional' laptop is throwing at me (I'll drive over it when I have a replacement...then it's a flattop).

Thanks DavyB, and Bill, it has da droit!

Supposedly there's a problem with thermal paste not being applied liberally enough, but so far the Macbook runs much cooler than my Vaio (RIP).

I think these are problems that Apple users nitpick about.

And Bram, no BSOD, but I did get a CSWOD (Colorful Spinning Wheel of Death), which I could escape from.

I'll have a full report for the unconverted when I get the hang of this puppy.

-option-esc will get you the Force Quit window, and you can kill the process that has hung.

And when you do, be sure to video the event, and post it to Google Video with an appropriate IDN domain name (preferably one that means something in both Chinese and Japanese) titled into the video frame.

I can already say I'm never going back to the Dark Side.

My only peeve is that I had to pony up for Office (just for Excel).

It's the only msft product I can't do without.

[I did find a brick and mortar store selling the student and teacher version!]
