As part of Russian president Vladimir Putin's long-running campaign to tackle country alcoholism, the new year has brought a new law requiring beer to be classified as "alcohol" and not "food".:santahat:

We have traveled to Russia when I was a small kid with my parents and the only thing I remember in grocery stores were vodka, tomatoes, vodka, bread, vodka, pelmeni and vodka. But it was 30 years ago.

Overall, the alcohol content is low (0.05% - 1.0%)
like the non alcoholic beer or wine you can buy at the supermarket.
