Yep - just wondering if they measure land in acres in Russia?

would it be common for them to say
акрах for acreage and
акр for a acre in describing land sizes, or do they have another unit of measure for land?

Since the early days of the Soviet Union, Russians have used the metric system. But before going metric, the Russians had their own system of units. See Obsolete_Russian_units_of_measurement (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Obsolete_Russian_units_of_measurement).

Some of these obsolete units still show up in colloquial expressions.

But акр is not among them; it is only used when referring to land in countries (such as the US) where that unit is prevalent. And акрах is the locative plural form of акр, so it would not be considered a "stand alone" form.

But you might want to wait for a native speaker to confirm this information.
