It makes you see the logic of Verisign's application for transliterations. Applying for generics like 'company', 'commerce' or whatever would have probably ended in tears.

Well this is different. Verisign doesn't limit who can register a name. Amazon wants .book all to itself.

It would also have diminished their Brand.

Further, it would have weakened our claims to the new domains.

I wrote to Chuck at Verisign this morning and asked him if they are "ready" to go idn.idn with our .com names when ICANN gives the green light. I will let you know his response.
