nice site, except it comes up for me in Chrome as:

http://xn--lckta6b8n.xn--w8jtby912c.xn--q9jyb4c/

Hardly "invites you in" does it?

We should not really have to whitelist IDNs but unfortunately we still need to. With Chrome one whitelists by language

Chrome ➜ Preferences ➜ Show advanced settings ➜ Language and input settings ➜ add Japanese

Perhaps for Chrome downloaded in Japan, Japanese IDNs are displayed by default just like Thai by default in Thailand?

You are both right. 14 years into IDNs and we are having to whitelist IDNs or download Chrome from the country the IDN is in.

Its crazy. If things don't "just work" people don't use them, period.

And its all apparently to prevent phishing, yawn.

I've been involved with bitcoins the last 18 months and seen thousands of phishing expeditions, many of them successful, and none using IDN domain names, 100% using boring old ASCII domains.

And now ICANN has allowed another 1000 TLDs, there is nothing on earth that is going to stop phishing growing completely out of control.

If a domain starts with xn-- just display the unicode. Its very freaking simple.

OK, time to watch England now :)

Was it good for you? :-p

Bit like the rugby, nearly won!

Should have rephrased it ... Time to watch Suarez destroy England.

For a guy that had a knee operation a month ago, and hardly trained since, staggering performance.

England - just not good enough. When's the World Cup coming back to England? Its our only chance of winning the tournament ;)
