Well, it is the simple fact that the vast majority of the domains that actually pay for themselves are banned at Google. :lol:

First names, anything. If it gets traffic Google seems to think there's something suspicious going on and flags it.

At one point I created mini-sites for some of my Russian domain names (mediocre dictionary words). Simple one-page sites with about 500 words each, written by a native speaker (hired on fiverr). I put Google ads on these pages, and didn't (as far as I could tell) have problems with bans. The problem was that the domain names were lousy.
