After years of delay, it's now time to promote IDN.IDN!
We should all start using social media (Facebook etc.) to promote IDN.IDN.
Let's all act now to find back our IDN glory and dreams!

It is exactly the right time! Since we know IDN.com holders have the exclusive right to register IDN.IDN.

We promote IDN.IDN concept, so that those who want to own IDN.IDN have to buy IDN.com right now! Or they will miss out the window period!

I totally agree with you. I have been promoting IDNs on my twitter for years.
eg https://twitter.com/andreschappo/status/699508871166103552

I do though think that one should only promote those IDN.IDNs that are properly integrated into a website. So, do not promote IDN.IDNs that immediately redirect to an ASCII address. Redirecting to an ASCII does nothing for the IDN.IDN cause.

For the greater IDN.IDN cause why not promote other people's IDN.IDNs.

eg http://ล่าม.ไทย which I think is a good IDN.IDN example. It does not redirect to an ASCII. It does not force www.ล่าม.ไทย. The pathname part of the url is, in the majority of instances, written in Thai.

http://ล่าม.ไทย/ล่ามภาษาเกาหลี
http://ล่าม.ไทย/ล่ามภาษาอังกฤษ
http://ล่าม.ไทย/ล่ามภาษาอาหรับ

Do we know, yet, if there are any restrictions on premiums or single character Kanji, Hiragana or Katakana domains?

Do we know if there is premium pricing on any of our IDN.coms?

No we don't. It is theoretically possible that some IDN.IDN domains are rendered worthless or at least unattractive for speculators if the premium pricing is high enough.

e.g. do you want to hold a domain with $xxxx/year in renewal fees that might have a reseller value of 5K and no established end-user market?

Given the risk (unknown how long it takes to become valuable, unknown if the extension will succeed), the risk/reward ratio might not look good in some cases.

Personally i would wait after the launch before promoting any domains instead of expecting that you are guaranteed to get your IDN.IDN.

You might be eligible to register your IDN.IDN before anyone else but that doesn't mean that you will be able to afford it or that you want to buy it.

Now it could be that Verisign decides to be nice and doesn't premium price all or most IDNs for us but I wouldn't rely on it. We will only know after the launch.

Because I know of very few people, outside of domaining forums, that are particularly interested in domain names per se. People that are interested in IDN domain names e.g. Thai SEO forums, are fully aware what is going on re: IDNs.

There have been websites using ASCII domains + Thai script pathnames since the web existed. Completely separate issue to IDN domains.

We don't know. That's exactly why I say it is the right time.

Suppose we start to promote IDN.IDN concept, it should lead to higher price for IDN.com
Then we have 2 options:
1. Sell IDN.com higher if we don't want corresponding IDN.IDN.
2. Hold IDN.com and register IDN.IDN and enjoy their popularity.
Either way it's good for IDN.com holders.

If we do not promote IDN now and wait for the launch? The priority period for IDN.com will be passed and IDN.IDN wiil be available for all.
IDN.com will be de-valued sharpely since those who are interested in IDN.IDN won't need IDN.com for the reg!

IMO...

We don't need to promote anything.

Japanese IDN.IDN(.com) will have it's own market because it is short and sweet, Verisign is trusted and .com is already familiar worldwide, and .コム is pronounced the same.

There will also be a lot of new Japanese domainers (IDN'ers) and brokers wanting a piece of the action.

If we start to promote IDN now, not only IDN-speaking people but also English speaking domainers would join in.
It's the time for us to act.

English speakers, if they have a brain, join in on published sales .... what sales have happened in 15 years? minimal. please get real.

English is not my mother tongue, but I could learn and register English wording domain names.
In the culture I grew up, I've learnt to be harmonious with others, act decent and work hard to get what I want.
Same thing here. I believe if we start to promote IDN, we will make the difference. No matter what people call me, I will continue IDN promotion.
