Comment #1 :

Brexit is a sad chaos.
Scotland seems on the path for another vote and EU membership.

Anyway, a good friend said a worse disaster would be England losing to Iceland.

The Croatia vs Portugal match has been a sleeping pill this afternoon.

Looking forward to the Italy / Ireland match on Sunday.

On paper it would seem that Belgium should get to the finals.

Messi has been laughing about how Ronaldo missed the penalty, then this happens:

The shear stupidity of all it is that the things those who voted to Leave least want are likely the exact result of their decision to vote Leave. Top of those on the list are the idiots in Kent who will soon have refugee camps on their doorstep.

Scotland Referendum result has been invalidated. Scotland will almost certainly leave the UK, and possibly Northern Ireland as well. London has the power but not the authority to force both out of the EU but any attempt to do so will probably invoke a declaration of Independence even with a fresh referendum.

It is even unclear that London will wish to remain in the UK. Wales has already sabotaged any rescue of Port Talbot Steelwork, so those Turkeys have voted for Xmas.

All main UK political parties are in a state of meltdown along with our International standing.

Boris probably won't even make the Ballot Paper for Tory Leader although he is shoe-in with the grassroots. Parliamentary party are not likely to work with him, especially as his victory was based on a pack of untruths and has already wrought great damage to the country.

Even if parliament agrees to proceed on the basis of this Advisory Referendum, it is not at all clear when or if ever they will in a position to do so.

it is great sport. iceland could have lost heart with the pk by rooney at 4'.
but they kept their composure and game plan.

England's crosses and set pieces were horrid.

England and Spain, now join Argentina to face new futures and need many new faces.

Iceland is likely to have a nursery crisis in 9 months.

I humbly request that the queen kindly consider taking back our troubled colonies across the pond.

I loved every moment.

The Heart's of those Morons that have just destroyed my country by voting on the advice of a Charlatan and Fraudster because they invest every morsel of their limited intellectual abilities discussing Football, have had it illustrated in the best possible way how little, Little England actually is.

Crush by a nation with a population of a third of a million. Magic!

Their hearts will have been literally bleeding on the pavement, because this is what they live for.

They got their just desserts.

And at least we end up with the prospect of having some kind of serious contention for the World Cup.

You break it. You own it!

Although perhaps the Scots should consider Nationalising a couple of Golf Courses after Independence.

portugal on PK's. how poetic ?

portugal vs belgium would be a match.
portugal vs wales would be a yawn.

italy vs germany is likely to be the match of the tourney.
Though Germany is not at their 2014 WC level, they are german and always grow in a tournament.

It seems to me that the Italians can run 2 miles at pace further than any squad in the 24. Their fitness to run for 90 or even 120 is impressive.

morale from beating Spain should bolden them.

At least they have a manager that is as energetic as his team. He might even split his pants like Zidane... :)

OK... I think Wales are certainly inspired by Iceland's campaign.

But it seems that Bale is due for a classic.

Germany vs France.

Germany's record of beating host nations is amazing.

But I have been reading that Marseilles is a very very loud stadium.
It would be nice to view an open flowing game from both squads.

Portugal....plays in to the box with the best player in the world.
France has tenacity to harass the back 4.

I think Portugal can win, if they can score first. Portugal as an underdog should be able to play with more bravery.

Congrats to Portugal.
And they did it without CR7 / Ronaldo...????

Anyway both teams had shots off the woodwork..
I guess UEFA will need to balance the half brackets in 4 years.
There is a need to put heavyweights like Iceland and Germany in different halves.

Next tier powers like England need to burn down the FA building, and find 10 Vardy / hungry players to play as a team.

Having Ireland, Northern Ireland, and Wales all harumphing at the same time for
2 yrs/ 4 yrs is sad for the 3 Lions fans who weren't even conscious for 1966.

Maybe Claudio will leave the Foxes for 3 million ?
