That's because Verisign has adoped .xyz tactics with .コム. If you go to Onamae, you can buy one コム at JPY 30 now. And that's not even the lowest it's gone. It was available at JPY 9 about a week ago through an affiliate program.

How kind of Verisign to offer their official dummy com so cheaply! (Perhaps they are taking nothing from the sale, just asking onamae to sell as much as possible.) It's now a matter of time before we see a flood of low quality questionable コム sites.

9 JPY is 9 cent? Wow. Why did they charge us premium prices? :-o

Big bump in the last few days, over 23,000 now registered.

Any idea how many Japanese .com names were registered? I seem to remember it being somewhere in the 40-50k range.

Over 8K in one day.

I am guessing that VeriSign are setting up Auction of untaken Premium Domains and have therefore registered them.

Seems to me that the original number of Premium Domains was 10K.

Guess I am easy. I took most of my Premium Japanese. If this flies then I will probably have the cash to take what I want elsewhere, and if it flops then there is no point paying Premium Pricing or indeed any pricing.

It's well over 35,000 names on the premium list.

I am guessing somebody or some people couldn't resist the 2 yen per name offer.

For 8,000 names that comes out to about $160, or less than any single premium domain.

And they all seem to have domain privacy attached (possibly a free add on?). We should be expecting the spam from .コム names any minute now.:-o

Good stuff happening in japan. If it keeps going like this its not speculation anymore.

I would have bought 8000 at that price. Still very speculative to me.

30 yen per name at the moment. That price will cause a lot of drops this time next year.

They are trying to replicate the .xyz business model.

Only 642,873 more and .コム will have as many registrations as .mobi

Where are they still this price at? I thought value domains promo was over. I see 399yen elsewhere.

Oops. Maybe I misread the price on Onamae.com. It looks like 1160 yen right now.

Hopefully it comes back wouldn't mind grabbing at least 1,000+ names at that price.
