I couldn't believe my eyes when I was searching for something.
One of our IDNs showed up.
WITH THE JAPANESE in the URL
Not the punycode but the actually IDN name.

This means that Japanese & Chinese keywords WILL be a factor in search engine results.
IDNs will be more important now because they display correctly in Google.
I'm not sure if they will be highlighted as of now but if they show up correctly it can't be long before they factor in search results.

Time for us to start development on some Japanese sites to see how far we can go.
This really expands the value of IDNs especially Asian domains, Japanese, Chinese, & Korean...
Make sure you tell people you saw it here first...

Craig,

This is massive!

The key point about IDN is that they are the only demains that will factor in the presence of Local Unicode Characters in the URL, when working out search engine ranking.

This will soon mean that to get that all important search engine ranking, IDN will be the only way to fly. You won't be able to SEO in the Far East without IDN!

Tremendous news!...

I think Google must currently be testing IDN
implementation in search results, as I remember
seeing a non-language based symbol .com listed
on there a few weeks ago.

The domain/symbol was a large black circle with a
.com tld (there was no site description, if I remember
rightly).

Now, if they list non-language based symbols then
things will really get interesting...
