If you are having difficulty with registrations, you may want to look at some aftermarket purchases. There have been some very good names going for relatively low prices in auctions lately; you should be able to find some bargains.

Also, I know Olney, Rubber Duck and Mulligan (and I'm sure others) have given insights in the past as to some of their research methods and mining techiniques. You may want to search the forum for some past threads relating to that.

Good luck!

Take a look at what people are already registering and grab variations or the .nets.

Threads like this (http://www.idnforums.com/forums/3105-tokyo-real-estate-for-sale-by-owner.html) really have a lot of ideas in them. Many of the older threads on this board have all chinese city names, all japanese city names, etc.

There is no exact simple formula many of us can give hints.
I mean there's been plenty of auctions by RD starting at just $10
even I lost a few good ones dot coms even that went for less than $50.
Japanese & Chinese are not the only domain markets. There's Arabic, Russian, even French Spanish, & German.
The whole site is made of tips.
I'd especially start from the begining. There's just too much to give a simple step by step.

Well, here's a piece of advice - this forum is primarily a place to sell domains, and also to create interest in IDNs -> which in turn is also for the purpose of selling domains.

If you want to learn about "basic domain mining", i would suggest first refer to DS, NP, DNF, etc, to build up your domaining fundamentals, and then study the posts on IDNF - you'll be able to pickout the useful points more easily.

Start with a language that you know.

Secondary market or hours of searching.

There are good names going begging in the auctions and sales on this forum. There's plenty of opportunity to grab a few.
Try and focus elswhere other than Japanese. There are plenty of names available in other languages.
Try dipping your spoon in a pot that is not so empty.

If decent domains are getting tougher to find, then you will find that the number of names for sale on the secondary market will also start to dry up.

People are selling primarily to generate cash. That cash is either required to register or renew. If registering is getting tough then the demand for cash is going to drop, whilst the demand for domains on the secondary market will grow. Supply and demand. Prices will go sharply North at some point.

If this effect corresponds with a rise in traffic revenues, which I am already beginning to sense, then there will be real momentum in the market.

Believe it or not alot of languages are pretty much wiped out

Tons of hindi words available but are what I would consider "noncommercial"

The commercial hindi words are long gone...........Many were regged in 2000-2004

Chinese - premiums are pretty much gone

There are still some nice keywords available in Japanese.

They don't get much traffic yet but I expect that to change.

Yes the only thing not completely wiped out are nice .jp domains. However be prepared jaik as they are expensive and you'll have to hold onto them for a few years. Do research and register wisely.

Very little traffic on .jp with above 500K OVT. Otherwise negligible.

Isn't that the Guru which previously told us that dot JP would destroy everything in its path including dot com?

I never said such a statement.

I believe both .com and .jp will be equal
I just see you as a lobbyist for IDN.com as most of your investment is in .com so you want to protect your future sales. The market will decide. You won't :).

Depends on which market you are talking about. The market on IDNF? The end user market for IDNs hasn't been created yet. :o

Thanks for clarification.

Yes, of course Touchring is correct, but it is highly noticeable that we don't seem to be getting traffic on dot JP. Actually, I know have quite a few as it was obvious that they had been under bought in relation to dot com.

Lots of hard work!

I started just a few weeks ago and regged some horrors in Chinese and Japanese, 11 months and they will be gone- that was because I jumped in with little or no research. :)

I now have some fairly good names in both languages but my biggest sucess has been in Thai - not too many people looking there but there are 60 million + Thai's so reasonable potential.

Domain Guru and a couple of others have creamed off the better names in Thai but I have still got some gems.

Good luck.

Stop posting and PMing - and start reading!!

Anybody who takes the time to read through the old and new posts will realise this forum is a goldmine of information on how and where and when to find good domains.

Only a few hours ago I regged some nice words that appeared in this months Zeitgeist. Zeitgeist has been mentioned on this forum before, and every month throws up a few potential nuggets of interest.

A lot of people are generous with sharing their advice, there is absolutely no reason why if you spend a day reading this forum that you cannot dig up some good names.

Having established that this market at least is not exhausted. How did I do it?

Simple. Bang a few terms into Google. Open a few interesting looking websites and check out some of the Title and Categories from the webiste. Check Google.ru, have a look a wordstat.yandex.ru. Get your translations from Systrans or other Online Dictionary. In total this lot must have take 3 to 4 hours to research and register.
