You guys should be able to add your avatars now
Please Try it out.

I am going to allow you guys to have signitures
I am going to limit live links to posters who have at least a certain amount of post.

This is to deter one post wonders who just post a link & bail...
Or you guys might see a "no follow" on some post

I'm trying things out but the stuff posted by regulars should not be affected.

Will be doing things from now till Monday (Japan time)

Thanks Olney, my Avitar (Firefox Logo) is working fine.

I agree on the links thing.

OK, not a problem. I thought we were trying to get this out there. I am happy to replace this with something else. Have you got a Thunderbird Logo?

Plenty of alternative Firefox avatars on this site if anyone would like a different design

http://rakaz.nl/item/avatar_gallery

I have no connection to it or anything, it's just a site I found while looking for avatars myself.....In the end I picked an Opera one to be a bit different but seeing some of these they are far better looking.....Might switch to one of these myself.....

I'm only joking Dave. Use it. There are tons more to look at here are a few.

For anyone else here are a bunch more.

Note the subtle differences on each on.

What's the Microsoft Logo? You haven't got one of the Fox giving that a good Shagging?

Like the sound of the email links?

I don't really code so what I am supposed to with that, presumably I cut and paste that in somewhere?

There are some animated gif's of Firefox eating Explorer and such like here....Not sure if you could use any of them as an Avatar or not though....

http://homeusers.brutele.be/jpbardiau/anigif/anigif.html

The main site also has banners, buttons and more...Some of them are quite good, some not so...

Lol, I don't know about the email, I was hoping you would be able to tell me. In hotmail, there is an option to add html, but I don't use outlook so much.

Neither do I, I only have thunderbird!

I don't want to come over as stuffy, but could we perhaps limit Avatars to static graphics? I find the animations looping next to the posts really distracting!

I'm not sure I can actually technically accomplish that.
I'm not allowing images in the signiture initially.
I most likely will offer it to premium members after everything is set up.

Well we as members can come to an agreement for the benifit of everyones comfort here. I will change mine to a static. 8)

I think there is merit in what Edwin states, although these were always allowed at DNForum. I remember them irritating me. Must be an age thing.

Having said that I do see some benefit for permitting them for the ongoing campaign pro- Firefox, anti-Microsoft until IE 7.0 is released.

It is of course Olneys forum, so not all decisions can necessarily be taken on a purely democratic basis, although I am prepared to go along with concensus, and/or directives from the management.

I'm not sure yet about limiting rules yet.
Really first I'm not even sure I can implement it.
After I open the gate back up this weekend (In a few hours)
There will even be a lot of international traffic.

I know if I can get Japanese members I'll have to really actively change avatars.

Can you guys let the avatars slide?
