Hi All,

Would anyone please explain how would idn's be an advantage if any from seo point of view?

- will algorhitm recognize idn's as what it stands for i.e russian idn cars.com or will it see cars.com as punycode which if i understand correctly worthless seo wise...

Any info on the "integration" of idn and search engine will be greatly appriciated.

Michael

Yes, the major search engines already display the native characters in full unicode. Take a look at this. Check out the urls in the search link I have provided.

Search Link (http://www.google.com/search?q=idnforums&hl=en&lr=&start=10&sa=N)

These are absolutly the best for foriegn website seo.

Also take a look at this... check out which url is number one out of over one million results.

駅街ガイド

Google Link (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=%E9%A7%85%E8%A1%97%E3%82%AC%E3%82%A4%E3%83%89)

The seo money is in the bag. :)

Thanks for the link sarcle (very cool btw)

My question is...this url i.e www.ubytování.net is in google results page 1, 10th result...and if u keep looking there r some other idn's in other pages...

from the other hand...if u go to google and enter this url in the search window u get:

Sorry, no information is available for the URL www.ubytování.net

If the URL is valid, try visiting that web page by clicking on the following link: www.ubytování.net
Find web pages from the site www.ubytování.net
Find web pages that contain the term "www.ubytování.net"

Do you know why? can it be "half indexed"?

Thanks!

www.ubytování.net (http://www.ubytování.net) is only a forwarded domain. Google, and Yahoo make a habit of not listing "real" websites, and actively delete the urls from their indexing.

Sarcle, was this site you gave as an example optimized at all?/light optimization etc..?

- also intresting to see how will .com .net .jp play a role...will it be the better optimized of the 3 in example to show up 1st..then the other 2 extensions...

- also, any idea how will the engine "treat" a 2word idn? (no hyphen in idn)

Thanks,

Michael

If you have a shop I'm sure if it is .jp it will do great if you do google adwords japan etc..

If your site is fully optimized of course there is a chance for your .jp to come up first. It's all the matter of how experienced you are with SEO.

especially in google japan I've seen alot of sites with .jp appear first

This IDN is mine. It is Czech. I think it means Accommodation. I would need to ask Lenka. At the moment it would appear to be pointed here along with vast majority of our domains.

If you are interested in Czech then we have quite a few!

I can't tell you exactly as I am not an SEO expert, but that site is one hell of a site about Shinjuku station stores and services. If it didn't come up in the top 3 regardless of the IDN, the search engine just sucks.
