I have some fairly decent english keywords in .hk, are they worth anything at all?

The only recorded sales I can find are Casino.hk at $20k and Online-Casino.hk at $9k.

So, if they are good, they are probably worth something. English is one of the official languages of Hong Kong, after all, so it's a pretty decent play.

PM me with your names and I'll see if I can give more insight.

Thanks, I will wait until after the public opening of the chinese domains as I will still try to get those names in chinese, if possible. I only bought the english ones recently, so I was not eligible for first-pick in chinese, and I missed the soft launch period as I was very ill (damn).

After the chinese public opening, I will share the list. Of course the casino word will sell anywhere, but what about non gambling or sex related terms? For now, I was just interested in the general feeling that are (english) .hk domains like junk bonds or does anyone see real potential in them? Because of their high cost and associated transfer fee, they need to be sold for at least 200 USD to be worth the effort.

It will be pretty interesting to follow this sale being the one with the hyphen brought in 9k OnlineCasino.hk for sale here on sedo http://sedo.com/auction/auction_detail.php?language=us&auction_id=5471

Less then a day to go on BETS.hk and it hasn't even broke 200 bux

I wonder if it was promoted (39 USD fee). I guess it's not possible to tell...

You never know, either, with only 1 bid it could very well be a shill to drive interest.

At least these people seem to think they are worth something:

I hope they start to take off soon. bets.hk never did sell on SEDO. Wonder if the person really thought they could get 10-20K USD for it...

English is the business language for HK, but HK is a small place, only 7 million people. There's a limit to commercial potential.

It's what they use and a large of southern China, also Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore etc.

Doesn't matter, since in .HK you get both traditional and simplified no matter which one you register.

If you scratch it does it matter :)

If you register one you will automatically get the transliteration or mapping for the other. That is not necessarily the same as the translation.

Search will give virtually identical rankings translations rather than mappings. There is a distinction at type in level, but if you have both of course that does not matter.

.HK has some of the most advanced character mapping I have seen. The even tell you which archaic variants you did not get.
