I can almost promise you after the last embarrassing auction .mobi had after all the hype. There is going to be one or two people that try to revive the hysteria at this next auction for the sake of their own investments. And it may work for the short term again.

Long term it never got started. It was dead in the water. Any tld can do what .mobi does without all the restrictions.

Remind me how the Live Auctions works?

Can you actually bid against yourself, or would you need to go straight to 6 figures on your own?

Isn't that how it happened the first time? I wasn't there. But one or two decoys planted in the room to "bid" up for their buddies; I'm sure someone will "take one for the team."

Of course I'm not suggesting that this is what happened last time or what will happen, just my imagination running wild. :p

Looks like .mobi are bringing out some good generic names for the upcoming auction:

On March 7, dotMobi plans to auction a select group of domains at T.R.A.F.F.I.C. WEST 2007 in Las Vegas.

The .mobi names scheduled for auction are: "airfare," "areacodes," "cam," "casinos," "creditscore," "directions," "eat," "libre," "loancalculator," "models," "newmusic," "pics," "pizza," "realestate" and "singles."

You are not alone there. I have the same imagination.

Are those on the published Master List?

I thought the big guns had been pulled.

But I was wrong there is a extensive list of dot Mobis with quality keywords.

If there is no genuine market interest, it is going to take a hell of a support operation to keep all of these afloat.

Here are the links to the article I got info from.
There are 2 or 3 more similar articles about .mobi being in the auction from
various sources in the "News" section at DNF.

They are on the master list but at much, much, much lower reserves than the last auction would should speak volumes about their demise.

Most all of them are in the 5k-10k range.

Last auction:
blowjobs.mobi $100,001 - $250,000 That's one expensive BJ
Cams.mobi $100,001 - $250,000
fag.mobi $50,001 - $100,000
Fellatio.mobi $25,001 - $50,000
girls.mobi $100,001 - $250,000
nicetits.mobi $10,001 - $25,000

I wouldn't want any of them unless all the fees are paid for the next 10 years and I was given them.

And I can't believe I'm going to say this but I rather have pizza than nicetits. :p

Why do you guys worry and continually post (On an IDN forum no less) so much about an extension you despise so much, nothing else to talk about?

There have been many .mobi sales in a period of only 6 months , irrespective of how you may think they were managed, and you deride some of those .mobi at low prices on Sedo , most of them I crap anyway, that is Sedo's nonsensical selection process- if they have one at all!

I cannot get low $xxx for prime keyword IDN's on the forums - chance would be a fine thing.

Let's concentrate on getting IDN's in to the spotlight (スポットライト.com - good OV , many adsense - no offers).

The continued preoccupation with non IDN's , particularly .mobi, smacks of - no I won't say it.

Nothing wrong with talking about the current state of all domains in general. As long as we are in the right area, which is (general domain discussion)

And just because I can't pay $XXX for (Thissuckseallybad.anyext.) Doesn't mean it's worth it.

But yeah, I think you're right we should focus more on the next IDN auction. Which is when by the way?

No, you are not. Which is why, I think, we are seeing a lot more high caliber names being sold at the forums and at auctions. Preparing for another bubble? It's usually an indicator when professionals are bailing; and bailing fast.

I hate to say it, but my ascii numbers are not worse, maybe better, than they have been in a long time.

My IDN PPC is still outpacing my ascii by a long shot. I was laughing at myself today when my Polish CTR dropped to 60% and I was shocked. :(

I see more and more traffic to languages that never saw traffic. IDN clicks at .28 and .54 and higher are no longer surprising. Even Asian IDNs are getting more steady traffic.

Am I the only one?

I still cannot figure out why I am getting daily multiple views to ǃ.com from Asia. Frustrating!

No IDN are doing awesome. It's the ascii world that may be in a world of hurt in the near future. Their sales to ROI is far out pacing itself. Which is good for us. Ascii crashing as IDN take off. We may end up snatching up some premiums for cheap along the way. :)

Yes, but wouldn't it be the ultimate form of, "I told you so. Thanks for the domain BTW."
