TAS Interruption

http://newgtlds.icann.org/en/announc...ent-14apr12-en

This is an embarrassing excerpt for ICANN:

"This preliminary review has identified a user report on 19 March that appears to be the first report related to this technical issue."

Re: TAS Interruption

Hopefully this was a one-time customer service oversight of a user report that should have been acted on immediately. Kind of funny that they demand proof from applicants that they can keep their own systems up %100 of the time, but when ICANN's critical system is down it can wait until next Tuesday. Good thing the organization has no competition or they might be in trouble. Also, I thought it strange that the announcement was made by the COO rather than by Beckstrom himself.

Re: TAS Interruption

Is this likely to affect the reveal date (May 1) ?

I doubt it will. Frankly, no extra applications expected.

If ICANN will stick to the very much anticipated and announced* April 30th we have 2 more weeks to wait until we get to see who applied for what.

*They did include a disclaimer regarding the date changing in the April 30 announcement worst case another 8 day delay possibly.

Anyone here has been waiting since the beginning (2000)? Clotho and a couple others possibly.

Re: TAS Interruption

I don't think it's a huge deal, actually. However, this sentence from their press announcement kind of bothers me.

"As part of that process, we are sifting through the thousands of customer service inquiries received since the opening of the application submission period."

By referring to "thousands" of inquiries, it seems dismissive of any individual inquiries.

Perhaps Beckstrom is on the way out?
