Universal Acceptance (UA) is a technical compliance process that ensures that all domain names
and email addresses can be used by all Internet-enabled applications, devices and systems. UA is
essential for the continued expansion of the Internet. By making all systems interoperable, UA provides a gateway to the next billion Internet users. It enables governments and societies to better serve their communities through the use of an
increasing number of new domains, including non-Latin-based, language-specific domain names
in Arabic, Chinese and many other scripts.
Yes, the group is very active in raising awareness of IDNs and EAI. This includes producing documentation/guides and giving presentations at conferences. There is also their comprehensive website https://uasg.tech/
I suspect the lack of e-mail functionality might be the biggest factor preventing developers from using IDN's. When this gets sorted out I think things will take off but it is going to be several years.
